The Body Traversing Space

The brief asked for a physical and conceptual connection between two spaces, held within a tall vestibule and resolved as either a stair or a ramp.

The design moved through a few key ideas: steps aligned to catch light from the windows, floating treads to read as light rather than heavy, and transparent treads to push that floating quality further.

Study models were built in foam board first, with the final model constructed in frosted acrylic to carry the light-and-transparency idea through to the object itself.
